Our customers frequently ask us whether using fix2U will affect their warranty with Apple or Samsung. In the past, the general consensus was that repairing your phone with a third-party repairer like fix2U would void your warranty. However, this was cleared up once and for all, thanks to a landmark court case in 2018 between Apple and the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC). Following the ruling that was published on 19th June 2018, the ACCC confirmed that

“…Consumers are able to have their iPads and iPhones screens repaired and have other repairs done by third party repairers, so long as that repair doesn’t impact on the underlying operation of the iPad or iPhone,”.

Consumers now have the option to replace the screens on their iPhone or iPad using more affordable solutions such as fix2U and still maintain their existing Apple warranty. The same  applies to Samsung devices.

“The Court declared the mere fact that an iPhone or iPad had been repaired by someone other than Apple did not, and could not, result in the consumer guarantees ceasing to apply, or the consumer’s right to a remedy being extinguished.”

Do third-party repairers use genuine parts with their repairs?

Many other third-party repairers have often been found to be misleading Australian customers to believe they repair iPhones and iPhones using genuine Apple screens and parts. However, the truth is that only Apple offers genuine parts and does not supply other third-party repairers. Those third-party repairers who claim they use genuine parts are using refurbished screens that were once broken LCD or OLED displays.

As a third-party repairer, fix2U only uses brand-new, factory-assembled parts that are of equivalent quality and specification to Apple. As a result, we can offer more competitive repair prices that are significantly lower than Apple.

For Samsung devices, we use Samsung service packs which are genuine Samsung parts. If we can’t get our hands on one, we will use a refurbished part to ensure that you have your device fixed as quickly as possible.
