Myth #1: Repairs are so expensive, you may as well buy a new phone

Myth #2: 3rd party repairs void your warranty

Won’t repairing my phone with someone other than Apple or Samsung void my warranty? In June 2018, Australia’s ACCC took Apple to court and successfully fined them a whopping $9m for making false or mislead representations to customers with faulty devices. The court decided that the fact that you decided to repair your phone with someone other than Apple could not result in your consumer rights ceasing to apply. A great win for customers!

Myth #3: Uncooked rice fixes water-damaged phones

Everyone’s heard of this one so it had to make it on our list. As the story goes, if your phone is unfortunate to go for an unplanned swim, you can place it in a container of uncooked rice, which will act as a desiccant and magically remove all of the excess moisture.
